The CareFusion ECoScreen turbo is an instrument designed for the non-invasive collection of exhaled breath condensate (EBC). The collection apparatus cools exhaled air, thus provoking the condensation of water and other volatile components suspended in exhaled air. These can be either in vapour form or as aerosol containing droplets of respiratory lining fluid. The exhaled breath condensate (EBC) is collected in a test tube, located at the extremity of a disposable respiratory system. The small size and weight of ECoScreen turbo makes transport easy. Consequently, specimens can be collected not only in the laboratory, but also in outpatient settings, at the workplace, or even at home. ECoVent is an optional module for the ECoScreen turbo which allows the recording of important ventilatory parameters related to the collection of exhaled breath condensate (EBC).
